Hello W.H. Day Families:

It is hard to imagine that the school year is coming to a close.  The saying time flies when you are having fun is surely true this year.  The time has flown by.  It seems such a short time ago that we were welcoming the eager faces of our students in September, and now we are saying so long for the summer.  It has been a great year of learning and extra-curricular activities for our students.  The staff here at W.H. Day certainly need to be thanked for their efforts working both academically and outside of the classroom.

Staffing Changes:

There are a number of staff that we are saying good bye to as the year ends.  Mlle Boyd has done a fantastic job teaching the Grade 5 Extended French class.  We wish her the best as she moves on to a new school.  Mrs. Burlock has been one of our Special Education teachers this year and she is moving to a school closer to her home.  M Dunham has done a great job this year taking over one of our French Immersion classes.  He is also moving on to a new school to teach French Immersion.  Mrs. Francoeur is moving on from her Grade 1 class to a school closer to her home.  Ms. Geertsema has been a planning time teacher for the year, and we wish her the best of luck in her future teaching career.  Mrs. McTaggart joined the team in the Developmental Skills class and has done a great job, working closely with her students and their families.  Mrs. Nagy has worked closely with our Kindergarten team for a number of years and is moving on to a new school.   Mlle Nanowski has done a great job teaching one of our French Immersion classes and we wish her the best.  Mlle Rizzardo has also taught French Immersion and we wish her the best as well.  Mrs. Strever has been a valued member of the Kindergarten team and is also moving to a new school in the fall.  Mlle Wontorra joined our staff just a couple of months ago to teach Core French to the Grade 4 to 8 English classes.  She fit in as a valued member of the staff quickly.  We wish her the best in her future teaching career.

Finally, Mrs. Jackson is retiring from education after many years of service to the profession, especially here at W.H. Day where she is one of the original staff members!  Retirement is a very special time for a teacher.  It is a time to look back on a very successful career.  Teaching is much more than a job, it is a life choice.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Jackson for a number of years and can say that she is one of the finest teachers I have had the pleasure of working with.  On behalf of the entire W.H. Day staff, I wish Mrs. Jackson the very best on her retirement!
